What is the burning desire within you? Was there something that you’ve always wanted to do ever since you were young? Does it nag at you? Haunt you? Is it difficult to tame? Do you run from it because it seems unrealistic?
Some desires are born out of insecurity and an attempt to prove something to someone or to get even with someone who hurt you. Other desires stir deep inside regardless of who notices and in spite of whether you receive recognition. Some desires may be born out of both causes.
One valuable exercise is to list all of the desires that fill you. Don’t judge what they are or how big or small they are. In fact, take on the exercise with radical self-acceptance and self-compassion. The deeper you go, the more you will find exactly who you are and what stirs your authentic joy.
Inspiration for the Day: “…what woman having ten silver coins, if she loses one of them, does not light a lamp, sweep the house, and search carefully until she finds it? When she has found it, she calls together her friends and neighbors, saying, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found the coin that I lost.’” –Luke 15: 8-9
