Finding our path often involves learning what doesn’t work for us.
Like flashing hazard lights, experiencing drudgery can alert us that something is wrong. Accidents and illness are other wake-up calls that can indicate we are not living the life we want to live. Status and monetary success often cannot fill the hole in one’s heart that hides another calling.
Numerous people throughout the ages have stories of living unfulfilled lives due to an inner urging that ached to do something different. Their powerful stories serve as heroic breadcrumbs for others as they tell of breaking away from a former life clothed in seeming comfort and jumping into an abyss of unknowns that ultimately led to self-discovery and a new soul-rewarding vocation.
Some paths led to lives as research scientists while others were artists, public servants, teachers, inventors, ministers, volunteers, healers, diplomats, and more.
