Momentum is fantastic unless you are in a rut and find yourself going through the motions. Generally, it can also be a wake-up call that you are not in the present moment.
Living in the present can help you be in the “now” and better connect with others in the moment. What is this moment teaching you? How are your feelings in this very second influencing you? What is your body telling you?
Anxiety multiplies when ruminating about the past and focusing on fears of the future. Anxiety and related depression tend to diminish when we take deep breaths and fully awaken to the now.
Try making small changes to your routine to re-engage in the moment. Brush your teeth with the opposite hand if you can. Drive (or walk) a different way to your destination. Stretch your body between appointments. Take an inhale of a fragrant essential oil.
Inspiration for the Day: “Mindfulness isn’t difficult, we just need to remember to do it.” –Sharon Salzberg
