While it is healthy and positive to find gratitude in the moment, heeding the Soul’s call of deeper discontent may also be a lifesaving wake-up call to spur you into action.
As an example, one study examined the effects of prescription drugs on the survival responses in a group of minnows. A predator fish was introduced into two tanks of minnows. One tank was filled with non-drugged minnows while the second tank contained somewhat sedated minnows who had been exposed to prescription medications. As you may guess, the “sober” fish fought for their lives while the drugged fish responded lackadaisically and gave no sign of fight at all.
Sometimes questioning authority or where you’re at is a lifesaving call to action that saves you—and others.
Inspiration for the Day: “Most men would feel insulted if it were proposed to employ them in throwing stones over a wall, and then in throwing them back, merely that they might earn their wages. But many are no more worthily employed now.” –Henry David Thoreau
